Widgets#

The widget browser is the main place to add apps, information, controls, and connected services to CoolDock.

Open the widget browser#

  • Right-click CoolDock and choose Widgets.
  • Choose Widgets from the CoolDock menu bar icon.
  • Click Open Widgets when the active profile has no widgets.
  • Choose Close Widgets from the same right-click menu when the browser is open.

Use the category list on the left or the Search widgets field (⌘F) to narrow the library.

Add and place widgets#

Click a card to add it at the end of the active profile, or drag it into a specific place in the Dock. A setup panel appears first when a widget needs an account, location, symbol, folder, or other required choice.

The browser lists All Widgets and these categories:

  • Apps — featured apps, More Apps, Applications, and Trash
  • Folders — common folders and More Folders
  • Social — X, TikTok, YouTube, YouTube Studio, and X Studio
  • Finance — Polar, Stripe, and Dodo Payments revenue
  • Commerce — Shopify revenue, overview, and trends
  • Stocks and Crypto — quotes, charts, and watchlists
  • AI — plan and API usage for Claude, Codex, Claude Code, Cursor, Antigravity, GLM, Grok, OpenCode, Copilot, Gemini, and Perplexity
  • Analytics — DataFast, Simple Analytics, Plausible, Supabase, GitHub, Resend, and Dub
  • Clocks — time, date, timers, stopwatch, Pomodoro, posture, world clocks, and analog styles
  • Calendar — events, agendas, meetings, Zoom Meeting, and day, month, and year progress
  • Reminders, Tasks (Linear and Todo), and Phone (Quick Contacts)
  • Media — Now Playing, YouTube Video, and Background Sounds
  • Photos — Recent Photo and Wallpaper
  • System — battery, CPU, RAM, temperature, network, storage, audio, clipboard, screenshots, files, search, App Switcher, Quick Toggles, Emoji, Voice Memo, Converter, Calculator, Color Picker, Separator, and Space
  • Weather, Mail (Mail and Gmail), and Notes

Some cards appear only when they apply: Battery on Macs with a built-in battery, AirPods and Apple Watch while those devices are connected, and App Volume on Macs that support per-app audio control.

Widget interactions#

Most widgets have three layers of interaction:

  1. Click for the primary action or an expanded mini window.
  2. Hover for a label, compact controls, or a preview where supported.
  3. Right-click for configuration, refresh, visibility, and removal commands.

For example, a folder can open an in-Dock gallery, an app can show live window previews, and a weather widget can be changed from current location to a custom place.

Remove a widget#

Right-click the widget and choose Remove. Removing a connected widget removes it from the active profile but does not revoke the service or macOS permission. Manage those separately in Settings → Privacy or the widget's connection panel.
