Updates#

CoolDock uses Sparkle to check for and install signed app updates.

Check manually#

Open Settings → Update and choose Check for Updates, or choose it from the CoolDock menu bar icon's Help menu. The Installed Version section shows the version and build currently on your Mac and, for licenses with an update window, the Included updates period.

When an update is available, CoolDock may also show:

  • a macOS notification
  • an update chip in the Dock

Selecting either opens the updater. A dismissed Dock chip returns only for a later release.

Automatic checks#

CoolDock checks after launch, after the Mac wakes from sleep, and approximately once per day. Disabling notifications does not stop update checks.

Beta updates#

Turn on Beta updates under Settings → Update → Update Channel to receive pre-release builds. Betas can be less stable. Turn the option off to stay on stable releases.

Update eligibility#

If a newer release was published after your included updates ended, the Update pane says the version is outside your update window and offers Renew updates. The newest version released during your update period keeps working, and the License pane can download the latest eligible version.

If an update will not install#

  1. Quit and reopen CoolDock.
  2. Check the current license status under Settings → License.
  3. Try Check for Updates again.
  4. Export diagnostics, which includes the update log from the last 3 days, and contact support if Sparkle reports another error.
