Customizing Widgets#
Right-click a widget to see the settings and actions that apply to that widget. Available commands vary by type.
Configure a widget#
Choose Customize to change options such as durations, locations, symbols, calendars, accounts, display formats, colors, or selected folders. Connected widgets may instead show a provider-specific command such as Configure DataFast or Usage Details & Connection.
Many widgets also provide Refresh or a direct link to the connected app or service. Now Playing widgets add Configure Player Access, which opens the Now Playing permissions in Settings → Privacy.
Conditional visibility#
Supported widgets include a Visibility choice in their right-click menu: Always visible, or a condition that keeps the tile out of the Dock until its information becomes relevant, such as Show while playing, Show when CPU is high, Show when memory is high, Show when temperature is high, Show on low battery, Show before meetings, or Show while in a Zoom meeting.
To restore a conditionally hidden widget:
- Right-click an empty area of CoolDock.
- Open Hidden Widgets. Each entry shows its condition and whether it is hidden right now.
- Choose Always Show for one widget, or Always Show All.
The Hidden Widgets menu lists only the active profile's widgets that use a condition.
Reorder widgets#
With the widget browser open, drag tiles to reorder them safely, or hold ⌘ while dragging a tile for a quick reorder at any time. You can also drag a new card from the widget browser directly to its intended position.
App and folder icons can also move with a plain drag when Drag apps to rearrange is on under Settings → Dock. See Apps & Folders.
Widget overflow#
Under Settings → Appearance → When Widgets Don't Fit, choose:
- Adapt Size (the default) to shrink the Dock until every widget fits.
- Scroll to preserve your chosen size and swipe horizontally through overflow.
Profiles keep their own widget order and configuration. See Profiles.
