Profiles#
Profiles are named Dock layouts for different workflows. Each profile keeps its own widgets, order, and widget configuration.
Create a profile#
Open Settings → Profiles and choose New Profile. You can also right-click CoolDock and choose New Profile.
Use the profile actions menu to:
- rename a profile (names are limited to 24 characters)
- duplicate its complete widget layout
- move it up or down, or drag the handle to reorder
- delete it
At least one profile must remain, and you can keep up to eight. Profile shortcuts follow the order shown in Settings.
Switch profiles from the Dock#
With more than one profile, hover CoolDock to reveal the profile tab strip. Select a tab to switch layouts.
Under Settings → Profiles, turn off Show profile switcher on hover to hide the tabs and use the Dock's right-click Switch Profile menu instead. Drag to switch profiles (on by default) changes profiles by dragging horizontally across CoolDock. When Drag apps to rearrange is on under Settings → Dock, hold ⌘ while dragging to switch. The gesture is ignored while a widget panel, setup panel, or the widget browser is open.
Switch profiles with the keyboard#
Under Settings → Shortcuts, Switch Profile uses a modifier prefix plus a number key. The first profile uses 0, the second uses 1, and so on. The default prefix is ⌃⌥⌘.
Running apps and profiles#
When running apps are shown, Settings → Dock offers Show in with All profiles or Selected profiles, where you tick the profiles that should include the running-apps cluster. Pinned apps and all other widgets remain part of the profile in which you added them.
