Introduction#

CoolDock is a customizable second Dock for macOS. It keeps live information, controls, apps, and folders in one compact bar while your original macOS Dock continues to work normally.

What you can put in CoolDock#

CoolDock includes a large library of widgets for everyday work:

  • clocks, timers, calendar events, reminders, and quick todos
  • Now Playing controls, audio output, app volume, and background sounds
  • weather, battery, CPU, memory, network, storage, and other system information
  • apps, app folders, regular folders, files, screenshots, bookmarks, and search
  • connected services for mail, analytics, revenue, developer tools, and smart home controls

Widgets can be clicked for their main action, expanded into a mini window, or right-clicked for configuration and secondary actions. The exact behavior depends on the widget.

CoolDock can also work with a local AI assistant that inspects and, when you allow it, configures the Dock for you. See AI Assistant.

CoolDock and the macOS Dock#

CoolDock does not require you to replace the macOS Dock. The recommended Swap at the Bottom layout keeps CoolDock visible and lets the auto-hiding macOS Dock take over when you move to the bottom edge.

Other layouts can reveal CoolDock only when needed, pin it to an edge, float it anywhere, or hide the macOS Dock while CoolDock is running. See Layout for the available scenarios.

Where settings live#

Open Settings from the CoolDock menu bar icon, press ⌘, while CoolDock is focused, or right-click the dock and choose Settings. The Settings sidebar is organized into General, Layout, Screens, Dock, Profiles, Appearance, Shortcuts, Privacy, AI Assistant, License, Update, and About.

The menu bar icon also opens the widget browser, switches layout scenarios, and holds the Help menu. See General Settings.
